Story Hours

Pre-School Story time
For children aged 3 – 5 years old. We will listen to stories and participate in songs and creative movement activities to encourage development of early literacy skills in your preschooler. Story time meets on Tuesdays from 10:30 – 11:00am. Please sign-up at the library or by phone. 
     Summer Session: June 18 – July 23 (SIGN UP STARTS 5/21)

Parent and Tot Time
For toddlers up to three years old accompanied by an adult. Enjoy an interactive story time with your child that includes early literacy fun with books, songs and movement activities. Tot Time takes place on Thursdays from 10:00 – 10:20am and 10:30 – 10:50am. Please sign-up at the library or by phone.   
     Summer Session: June 20 – July 25 (SIGN UP STARTS 5/23)

 Summer Reading Program 2019 
Reading is out of this world at the library this summer! The 2019 Summer Reading Program is open to young people, preschool age through 5th grade, and will include fun programs, cool contests, prize drawings, storytimes, and more. A calendar of events will be included with registration packet.
Sign-up begins on June 14th (the last day of school)

Paws to Read therapy dogPAWS to Read!
Come to the library to read to a dog. Our favorite certified therapy dogs love to be read to ... so pick out a book to read to a furry friend! Sign-up for a 10 minute time slot at the library or by phone.

3, 2, 1 … BLAST OFF into reading with Space Man Joel! Featuring dazzling magic, silly stunts, goofy gadgets, and lots of audience participation. Celebrate your summer reading accomplishments with this laugh out loud show at the Hunter Community Center gym.

CHAPTER CHAT : an intergenerational book club
Join us on the 4th Wednesday of the month from 4:00 – 4:45pm to discuss a well-loved children's chapter book. This intergenerational book club is suitable for readers ages 8 – adult.  Please register in the library or by phone at (248) 588-5500.

Teen Programs

Teen Read 2019
The Teen Read summer program is for those entering 6th grade thru 12th grade. Enter weekly and grand prize drawings for every hour spent reading books or listening to audio books. A final party will take place on Wednesday, July 31st from 6:30 – 8:00pm.
Sign-up begins on June 14th (the last day of school).

Babysitter’s Workshop
Sixth graders and up are invited to a Babysitter’s workshop on Thursday & Friday, August 8 & 9 from 10:00 – noon. Participants must attend both days to receive a certificate of attendance. A Registered Nurse, a Police Officer and a Firefighter will speak about how to handle emergencies, fire safety and child care basics.
Space is limited – please sign-up at the library or by phone beginning July 25.
