Sports Starters (Ages 3 & 4)

Instructor: Leisure Unlimited, Coach John Arndt

A fun introduction to individual sports skills. Various balls, bean bags, and hula hoops will be used to help your toddlers understand and execute the skills of running, catching, throwing, and kicking. Class emphasis is on participation, effort and FUN! Wear tennis shoes and bring a water bottle. Held at the Hunter Community Center in Clawson.

Kiddie Sports (Ages 4 - 6)

Introduce your youngsters to a variety of sports including pickleball, soccer, lacrosse, floor hockey, tee-ball, volleyball, kickball, football, and a few surprises! We teach sports fundamentals with fun, progressive drills and games. Children improve their individual skills and work at their own pace. Our emphasis is on teamwork, cooperation and effort. Bring a water bottle and wear tennis shoes. Held at the Hunter Community Center in Clawson.

Youth Basketball (Ages 6 - 9)

Intructor: Leisure Unlimited, Coach John Arndt

Jump into the fast-paced game of basketball. For the beginning and intermediate player. Using progressive drills and games, players will learn dribbling, passing, positions, shooting techniques, offenses and defenses. Kids will scrimmage during class time. Emphasis is on effort and teamwork. Wear tennis shoes, bring a water bottle and a ball (ball is optional). Held at the Royal Oak Salter Center.

Youth Bowling

This is a popular program for youngsters of all ages. Cost is $6.00 per week which includes two games of bowling or 1.5 hours (whichever comes first), weekly league average sheets, pizza and pop, special awards, shoe rental and a participation award. Coaching will be available. An absent fee of $1 will be charged by the bowling alley.

Child Pre-School to Dance

Non-recital classes with Premiere Plus. This is an easy way to introduce your child to the many physical and social benefits of dance. With music and movement combined, dance is good for your body and good for your soul. We are offering a pre-school class for ages 3 & 4. This 8 week program will allow children and parents to give dance a try and see if it would be a fun addition to your child's life. Classes will be held at the Hunter Community Center.

Class Description: Bouncing, clapping, singing, skipping and making new friends...imagine having all of this fun while learning to follow directions, to take turns and to cooperate.

Parent/Tot Drop-In Gym

The gym at the Hunter Community Center is available to play with you infants through pre-school children. Bring your own play things. NO COST.

Gymnastics

Clawson Parks and Recreationin in a partnership with Troy Gymnastics has revived the popular gymnastics program. All equipment is new at this state of the art facility at 1600 W. Maple just west of Crooks. All registrations held at Hunter Community Center. All instructors are USA Gymnastics members. A $25 yearly insurance fee is required to be paid at the first class.

Hunter Junior Optimist Club (3rd - 5th grade)

The Hunter Junior Optimist Club teaches kids teamwork, communication skills, self-esteem, money management and citizenship in non-traditional, fun ways. It provides kids a chance to have fun while completing projects and activities to improve the community and better the lives of its residents.

The Hunter Junior Optimist Club will meet the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month from 7-8 at the Hunter Community Center. The meetings will start on Thursday, September 17. Parents are required to attend the first meeting. We will give out information and a schedule of meeting dates at the first meeting.

Kids Kung Fu

A comprehensive discipline of the mind and body in a safe, age-appropriate, non-competitive program designed especially for kids. Parents see immediate improvements in all areas of the students life: discipline and self-control, confidence, and self-esteem, concentration, patience, respect, setting and achieving goals, partner skills, leadership and public speaking, grades at school, relationships and responsiblities at home. These are the life skills your child needs! Different tuition plans available. Ages 7 and up.

Spanish Immersion Montessori Pre-school

This is a Spanish immersion program that uses the Montessori philosophy. It is one of a few schools in the USA that combine the Montessori philosophy of education with language immersion schooling, and has been enjoying steady growth since February 2002, that relocated for the 2005/06 school year to the Hunter Community Center, 509 Fisher Court, Clawson, MI 48017.

Don’t Be Late!

Nothing kills a good program quicker than everyone waiting until the last minute to register for it. You see, there’s a point where, if there are not enough registrants, we must make a decision to cancel a course. Coming on the day of the activity to sign-up won’t resurrect it, so please register well in advance of the deadlines.
