The Clawson Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is a public corporation established by Public Act 197 of 1975 with the intent of “halting property value deterioration and promoting economic growth of the downtown.” It is composed of a board of directors that represents residents, property owners, business owners, and others with an interest in the downtown. The board, in turn, provides direction to the Executive Director.
In 2011 Downtown Clawson became the 12th Oakland County community to join Main Street Oakland County and accept Main Street as their management philosophy. Main Street - a program initiated by the National Trust for Historic Preservation - is a proven economic development program with a strong emphasis on historic preservation and community involvement.
This successful program has been adopted by over 2,000 communities nationwide and relies on community involvement through a four-pronged approach with committees that focus on the following areas:

The DDA meets at 4 p.m. on the third Wednesday of every month in the City Hall Community Room. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
