Downtown Parking
Parking Study
The Downtown Parking Study helps us determine future parking needs and assists us in determining how we meet those needs. We are working to reinstate parking on Main Street and the city owns and maintains parking lots in each of the quadrants of 14 Mile and Main Street. We strongly encourage shared parking, however, we also realize that adequate, convenient parking is a must for a successful downtown. Future parking will most likely be addressed by a combination of multi-level parking structures and surface lots throughout the downtown area. For a copy of the parking study

On-Street Parking
In 2002 the DDA hired the firm of
Glatting Jackson from Orlando, Florida to determine if it was feasible to reinstate on-street parking on Main Street. The study determined that on-street was appropriate for both Main Street and 14 Mile and they prepared cross-section diagrams of how the parking could be accomplished.
In 2004 the DDA, after having prepared an Engineering Survey of Main Street, contracted again with Glatting Jackson for the preparation of an ultimate Streetscape Plan for Main Street with a phased implementation strategy to institute on-street parking immediately and for transitioning into the ultimate long term plan when funding is available. A copy of the on-street parking plan will be available soon.
