RECEIPT OF BIDS

The City of Clawson will receive sealed bids until 10:00 am local time, on Thursday April 19, 2018, at the offices of the City Clerk, City of Clawson, 425 North Main Street, Clawson, Michigan 48017. Following the receipt of bids, all bids will be publicly opened and read aloud at 10:05am local time.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The approximate quantities involved in this work are as follows:

 Curb and Gutter, Rem, Modifed                                                                        325 Ft

Sidewalk, Rem                                                                                                400 Syd

Curb and Gutter, Conc, Det F1, Modified                                                          300 Ft Sidewalk Ramp, Conc, 4 inch                                                                                      2,305 Sft

Sidewalk Ramp, Conc, 6 inch                                                                       1,035 Sft

Detectable Warning Surface                                                                             140 Ft

and related work as well as traffic control, restoration and final clean up.

PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS

Plans and specifications are on file and copies may be secured on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, after 1:00pm.

Bidders wishing to download the Plans and Specifications at NO COST may do so by registering as a planholder with AEW over the phone at (586) 726-1234 and obtaining download instructions.

BID SECURITY

A certified check, bank draft, or satisfactory bid bond, executed by the bidder and a surety company, payable to the City of Clawson, in the amount equal to five percent (5%) of the bid, shall be submitted with each bid.

WITHDRAWAL OF BIDS

No bid may be withdrawn for a period of sixty (60) calendar days after the receipt of bids. This time frame may be adjusted through mutual agreement between the Owner and Contractor.

FEDERAL REQUIREMENTS

This is a Federally Funded Project.

The Contractor and Subcontractors on this project must comply with HUD contract provisions 24CFR part 85.36(i), the Davis-Bacon Act, Nondiscrimination, Equal Employment Opportunity, Affirmative Action, Section 3 requirements, Anti-Kickback Act, Federal Occupational Safety and Health Act and Department of Labor Standards and Regulations as set forth in the Contract Bid Documents. AWARD OF CONTRACT

The City of Clawson will award the contract to the lowest responsible bidder; however, it reserves the right to accept any bid, reject any or all bids and to waive any irregularities in bidding. The successful bidder will be required to furnish satisfactory performance, maintenance and guarantee, labor, and material bonds and insurance certificates.

The right is reserved by the City of Clawson to accept any bid, to reject any or all bids or waive irregularities in any bid in the best interest of the City.

Bid Process:


A Public Notice for soliciting sealed competitive bids shall be published in a newspaper in general circulation in the city at least five days prior to the final date for submitting the bids. Such notice shall briefly state the specifications of the supplies, materials, service or equipment required and shall state the amount of surety to be submitted with the bid and the surety, if any, which is required to be given with the contract, and shall further state the time and place for filing and opening of bids and the general terms and conditions of the award of the contract.

The City of Clawson works with AEW Engineering who provides support for the bid process of any large project.  It is advised to check with their office for any current or future projects and bid documents or the Department of Public Works unless otherwise noted.
