Functions of the Clerk’s Office

The City Charter, Section 4.15, states that the City Clerk is Clerk of the Council, attends all of its meetings, and shall keep a record of all of its proceedings. As official keeper of the records, original minutes of all meetings of Council and Boards and Commissions are kept and archived by the Clerk. Licenses such as dog and cat, business, Christmas tree lots, peddlers, coin operated amusement devices, and others are issued in the Clerk’s Office.

Freedom of Information

The City Clerk is the coordinator of Freedom of Information requests. It is her responsibility to see that proper requests are answered appropriately and in a timely manner. Elections

The Clerk’s Office conducts all elections in accordance with State and Federal law. The Clerk also administers the Oath of Office to all city officials, police officers and Council appointees.
