The Building & Planning Department inspects and reviews all structures and properties in the city. With the review of plans, the enforcement of ordinances and inspections the department handles everything from large commercial developments down to a simple home repair. Even though the department does a wide range of duties its main goal is to protect the health, safety and welfare of the community. This is accomplished with a good working relationship with the citizens, property owners and businesses.
Property maintenance is a major concern of established communities such as Clawson. If you have a concern about the upkeep of a property in Clawson, please call code enforcement with the address and we will send someone out to investigate it promptly.

Building Permits
For new construction, renovations, and demolition.
Electrical Permits
For all electrical work done within the city.
Heating/Cooling Permits
For new installation of furnaces and air conditioners or additions to the heating/cooling system.
Plumbing Permits
For new installation, alteration or addition to the plumbing, water heater replacement, or sewer repair. Upon completion of the work, the Building & Planning Department requires a 24 hour notice for all inspections.
